本周我们来学习和饮食有关的词汇  ：

1. thermometer /θə'mɒmɪtə/

n. 温度计；体温计

e.g. Their research tells us that whenever the thermometer drops below 50 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind blows by at least three miles per hour, wind chill begins.

雅思听力14-2-4 ：In 1592, the Italian scientist and inventor Galileo developed the world's first thermometer. His student Torricelli later invented the barometer, which allowed people to measure atmospheric pressure.

如口语话题 ：What is the weather like where you live?

e.g. The weather in my city is generally warm and humid, especially during the summer months. We experience high temperatures accompanied by a noticeable level of humidity, which makes the air feel a bit heavy.

e.g. It is 雅思sleeting. Be careful before it freezes, or the roads can be very slippery.

e.g. The area has been severely affected/hit by drought.

e.g. These new crops are also more resistant to drought, heat, and pests.

雅思听力6-4-4: Asiatic lions have been known to attack humans, especially in times ofdrought.

e.g. The forecast warned of freezing rain turning into sleet, creating hazardous driving conditions on the roads.
